Dainese has renewed its ERP system on Microsoft Dynamics AX using the Porini vertical fashion solution and Capgemini’s global system integrator skills

Milan, 16 July 2015 – Capgemini Italia announces that it has become a technology provider for Dainese on a project to overhaul the company’s entire management system, based on the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform, combined with the Porini Apparel & Textile, the vertical solution for the fashion industry. This is the first step on the IT transformation journey for Dainese, market leaders in motorcycle gear, who are currently enjoying a period of booming demand, with a positive growth trend. This important development phase means Dainese urgently needs a new-generation management tool to help govern and make the most of this transformation, streamlining its processes and improving the overall efficiency of the business.

Founded in the early 1970s as a manufacturer of leather pants for motocross, Dainese has gradually grown into a world leader brand in protective clothing for sports, in particular for motorcycling, mountain biking, skiing and horse-riding. From its very first headquarters in the tiny Northern Italian town of Molvena, near Vicenza, the company has developed a global presence with subsidiaries in the United States, Switzerland, Germany, France, UK and Hong Kong and an extensive sales network through its Dainese brand stores. At the end of 2014, the investment fund Investcorp bought up an 80% stake in Dainese with the aim of providing further support for the Group’s international development strategy.

Dainese is currently entering an ambitious period of growth and change that will require a transformation process at various levels, both organizationally and in terms of the tools that will be needed to support that growth. For example, an IT system suited to an international company that can provide the right degree of flexibility and dynamism for a rapidly developing field such as sportswear.

In order to achieve the right mix and strike the right balance between an information system that can ensure process and information consistency at Group level and at the same time handle the peculiarities of the Fashion market, Capgemini Italia regarded the best solution for Dainese’s needs as the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 platform, combined with their partner Porini’s verticalization for the clothing and textiles sector. Following a feasibility study lasting nearly three months, the project proper has just begun and will run for about a year, with a gradual transition to the new management infrastructure in various corporate areas, aiming both to limit risks arising from change and to take into account the seasonal rhythms of the Fashion business. For the future, there will also be work to do on the Retail and Manufacturing divisions.

“The path taken by Dainese, as well as making us particularly proud – given the importance of the brand internationally –, rewards Capgemini Italia’s strategy of supporting our customers’ growth and bringing out all of its excellence by combining vertical expertise and technological innovation”

says Claudio Corso, MRD Sales Manager & Dainese Account Executive at Capgemini Italia.

“The Dainese project also underlines our leadership in the CP & Retail sector using Microsoft Dynamics technology”.
