We are proud to present a new and engaging initiative aimed at 14-18 year olds who have dropped out of school.
The “Journey into Artificial Intelligence” project presented as part of the Microsoft Partner Pledge was built by Porini volunteers with the Milan-based association Il Balzo and aims to bring together and involve school dropouts.
The phenomenon of dropping out of school is on the rise, even in Milan, especially in the deprived suburbs and among kids from less affluent or more problematic families. It is something that hits society hard by increasing inequality and beautifying it. Depriving it of resources for growth, making it poorer.
They also call it school dropout, that something that makes young people say “it’s a piece of paper anyway” or “I can’t do it,” “I’m not capable.”
But it is not something for which we, lucky people, active in work, embedded in the exciting paths of Digital Transformation, can say “that’s their business.”
NO.
We have to try to turn it around, bring our enthusiasm to these young people, introduce them to this new technological world, let them touch it with their own hands so that, they, too, fall in love with it and come back to see themselves in society with an active role, built on skills.
The first meetings will be held at the association on May 15, May 22 and June 12, from 7 to 9 p.m., with reservations required.
We will tell the children about our world. We will make them play and work, demystify these topics, and keep them with us in open workshops, as artisans and apprentices of old.
If even one of them starts studying again we will have won in this borderless championship of life.

Siamo orgogliosi di presentare una nuova e coinvolgente iniziativa rivolta ai ragazzi dai 14 ai 18 anni che hanno abbandonato la scuola.
Il progetto “Viaggio nell’Intelligenza Artificiale” presentato all’interno del Microsoft Partner Pledge è stato costruito dai volontari di Porini con l’associazione milanese Il Balzo e vuole avvicinare e coinvolgere i ragazzi che hanno abbandonato la scuola.
Il fenomeno dell’abbandono scolastico è in crescita, anche a Milano, soprattutto nelle periferie disagiate e tra i ragazzi delle famiglie meno abbienti o più problematiche. È qualcosa che colpisce duramente la società aumentando le disuguaglianze e abbruttendola. Privandola di risorse per la crescita, rendendola più povera.
La chiamano anche dispersione scolastica, quel qualcosa che fa dire ai giovani “tanto è un pezzo di carta” oppure “non ce la faccio”, “non sono capace”.
Ma non è qualcosa per cui noi, persone fortunate, attive nel lavoro, inserite negli eccitanti percorsi della Digital Transformation, possiamo dire “sono fatti loro”.
NO.
Dobbiamo provare ad invertire la rotta, portare a questi ragazzi il nostro entusiasmo, far conoscere questo nuovo mondo tecnologico, farglielo toccare con mano in modo che, anche loro, se ne innamorino e tornino a vedersi nella società con un ruolo attivo, costruito sulle competenze.
I primi incontri si terranno presso l’associazione il 15 maggio, il 22 maggio e il 12 giugno, dalle 19.00 alle 21.00, con prenotazione obbligatoria.
Racconteremo ai ragazzi il nostro mondo. Li faremo giocare e lavorare, smitizzeremo questi argomenti e li terremo con noi in botteghe aperte, come artigiani e apprendisti di una volta.
Se anche solo uno di loro ricominciasse a studiare avremo vinto in questo campionato senza confini della vita.
