Porini is part of AI REDGIO 5.0, the European project that aims to strengthen and expand collaboration between leading European regions and Digital Innovation Hubs, to foster the digital transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in the context of Industry 5.0, through the adoption of AI-at-the-Edge solutions.
The project plans to:
- Develop methods and tools for AI-at-the-Edge applications and experiments.
- Create a secure and reliable data and computing space along the edge-to-cloud continuum.
- Ensure interoperability with the pan-EU AI-on-demand platform.
- Foster the transition from regional Digital Innovation Hubs to a network of EDIHs in artificial intelligence for manufacturing.
- Realise test-before-invest experiments in Artificial Intelligence and FET Factories.
- Support the transition to sustainability through ecosystem development and replication to SMEs.
The focus remains on collaboration between humans and robots, and the implementation of new technologies for the digital sovereignty of machines. The project will also support the EU’s open-source implementations for reliable and ethical artificial intelligence, and will foster connection with the network of EDIHs, AI FET nodes and Data Spaces.

You have until 1 March 2024 to participate in the first open call for proposals of AI REDGIO 5.0.
The call invites all small and medium-sized companies to propose an experiment based on the implementation of AI in the Edge and in Industry 5.0 systems to improve current solutions, products or processes in the manufacturing sector.
Experiments should cover the following topics:
- AI at the Edge applications and edge-to-cloud continuum
- Industry 5.0 and human-centric, resilient and sustainable manufacturing
- TERESA (Technology Regulatory Sandboxes) experiments

Porini è parte di AI REDGIO 5.0, il progetto europeo che mira a rafforzare e ampliare la collaborazione tra regioni europee leader e Digital Innovation Hubs, per favorire la trasformazione digitale delle piccole e medie imprese manifatturiere nell’ambito dell’Industria 5.0, attraverso l’adozione di soluzioni AI-at-the-Edge.
Il progetto prevede di:
- Sviluppare metodi e strumenti per le applicazioni e le sperimentazioni di AI-at-the-Edge.
- Creare uno spazio di dati e di calcolo sicuro e affidabile lungo il continuum edge-to-cloud.
- Garantire l’interoperabilità con la piattaforma pan-EU AI-on-demand.
- Favorire la transizione da Hub di Innovazione Digitale regionali a una rete di EDIH in intelligenza artificiale per la manifattura.
- Realizzare esperimenti di test-before-invest in Fabbriche Didattiche di intelligenza artificiale e TEF.
- Sostenere la transizione verso la sostenibilità, attraverso lo sviluppo dell’ecosistema e la replicazione alle PMI.
Il focus rimane sulla collaborazione tra esseri umani e robot, e sull’implementazione di nuove tecnologie per la sovranità digitale delle macchine. Il progetto supporterà anche le implementazioni open-source dell’UE per una intelligenza artificiale affidabile e etica, e favorirà la connessione con la rete degli EDIH, i nodi AI TEF e gli Spazi di Dati.
Per l’occasione, hai tempo fino al 1 Marzo 2024 per partecipare al primo bando aperto di AI REDGIO 5.0.
Il bando invita tutte le piccole e medie imprese a proporre un esperimento basato sull’implementazione dell’IA nell’Edge e nei sistemi dell’Industria 5.0, per migliorare soluzioni, prodotti o processi attuali nel settore manifatturiero.
Gli esperimenti dovranno coprire i seguenti temi:
